Lighting of the Nubble, for almost 40 years the first seasonal Christmas lighting of the Nubble Lighthouse has taken place on the Saturday following Thanksgiving. This event has developed into somewhat of a party. Thousands of Mainers and tourists alike gather at Sohier park and the beach. Where Santa, live Reindeer, carolers, hot cocoa and thousands of free cookies baked by locals add to the festive atmosphere. To help with the crowds at 3PM buses begin carrying people from the high school to the beach.

Kennebunkport’s Christmas Prelude and Ogunquit’s Christmas by the Sea are annual not to be missed Christmas festivals; foolproof in getting you in proper Christmas spirit!
